For anyone who loves nostalgia and reflective walks, "Devotion Scenes" is a bittersweet dream-pop song that pairs uplifting, shimmering production with lyrics about longing, memory and the stories we create around people we miss. Ethereal vocals, layered guitars and warm synths build toward an expansive chorus that feels hopeful and up lifting.

Current Release & Catalogue
Lovely Trees is the musical project of Toronto singer-songwriter and producer Sally McKay, blending atmospheric electronics with intimate songwriting, downtempo rhythms, and cinematic textures.
McKay is currently working on Devotion Scenes, the second Lovely Trees album, arriving fall 2026. The project explores the complexities of relationships — devotion, longing, emotional distance, and the strange ways people continue to shape one another through love and change.
The first two singles, Knees and Devotion Scenes, introduces a more immediate and vivid sonic direction for Lovely Trees while retaining the emotional intimacy that defines the project.
Before Lovely Trees, McKay recorded and performed in Toronto under the names Phauna and Lovage. The debut Lovely Trees album, Songs for the Visitor, emerged in the years following the loss of her husband and longtime musical partner Mike Young in 2018. Written and largely self-produced during lockdown from her Toronto home studio, the album explored grief, memory, and transformation through immersive electronic and acoustic arrangements.
With Devotion Scenes, Lovely Trees moves into a new chapter — expansive, emotionally direct, and rooted in the tension between vulnerability and momentum.
Songs For The Visitor
Lovely Trees
My new album, “Songs For The Visitor”, is a collection of ten deeply personal tracks, exploring themes of love, loss, and the continued presence of a passed love one.
These songs chronicle my journey through the grief of losing my husband and musical partner, Mike Young, who passed away in 2018 after a 10 year battle with Lewy Body’s Dementia. I recorded the album in my Toronto home studio, self-producing the tracks during a time of reflection and solitude. The process felt sacred, a space where I could honour my grief, connect with Mike’s memory, and explore the fragility of this time through sound. I poured my heart into every track, crafting each piece with reverence for the emotions it evoked.
