Welcome to the world of Lovely Trees

Lovely Trees is the musical project of Toronto singer-songwriter Sally McKay, blending acoustic and electronic textures to create deeply introspective, downtempo music. Her songs explore the bittersweet nature of relationships — the devotion, the longing, and the strange way even the most beautiful things can change.

Sally is currently working on her next album, Devotion Scenes, arriving fall 2026. The first single, Knees, is out May 29.

The debut album, Songs for the Visitor, introduced listeners to a world of stillness, vulnerability, and transformation. Written in the years following the loss of her husband and musical partner in 2018, the songs unfold as quiet conversations about love, grief, memory, and beginning again.

Explore the music, follow the journey, and connect through the latest releases.

My new album, “Songs For The Visitor”, is a collection of ten deeply personal tracks, exploring themes of love, loss, and the continued presence of a passed love one.

These songs chronicle my journey through the grief of losing my husband and musical partner, Mike Young, who passed away in 2018 after a 10 year battle with Lewy Body’s Dementia. I recorded the album in my Toronto home studio, self-producing the tracks during a time of reflection and solitude. The process felt sacred, a space where I could honour my grief, connect with Mike’s memory, and explore the fragility of this time through sound. I poured my heart into every track, crafting each piece with reverence for the emotions it evoked.
